In a Special Open Door Forum Feb. 17, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced it will delay implementation of claims edits for the Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System, or PECOS, until Jan. 3, 2011.
Under the edits (change requests 6417 and 6421), claims were scheduled to reject beginning April 5 if the prescribing physicians or non-physician practitioners listed were not registered in the nationwide enrollment system.
