BALTIMORE — In a list-serv message sent this morning, CMS' Competitive Bidding Implementation Contractor notified providers that registration is now open for the Round 1 rebid of the DMEPOS competitive bidding program.
CMS has targeted Oct. 21 as the opening date for the bid window, but providers must first register for a user ID and password to use the online bidding system.
"If you are a supplier interested in bidding, register now — don't wait," the notice said.
Providers should designate one "Authorized Official" (AO) for registration purposes, and that AO should register no later than Sept. 14.
The AO's user ID and password will be sent by mail within 10 days after registration, according to the notice.
The AO can also designate other "backup authorized officials" (BAOs) and/or end users (EUs) to use the online bidding system. Those BAOs and EUs should register no later than Oct. 4, the CBIC said.
The legal name, date of birth and Social Security number of all the bidding system users must match exactly what is on file with the National Supplier Clearinghouse in order to register successfully.
Bidding registration will close Nov. 4, 2009, at 9:00 p.m. EST, the CBIC said.
