CMS drastically scaled back its supplier quality standards in August, cutting the proposed requirements from more than 100 pages to only 14. While some HME stakeholders think fewer and less stringent requirements will have a positive impact on the industry, others said CMS did not go far enough in its final version, oversimplifying details and either relaxing or dropping tough standards entirely. Yet others feel the final quality standards are still too restrictive.
