Orlando, Fla.-based Rotech Healthcare has named Jeff Freedman chief development officer of the company. In his new position, he will be responsible for business acquisitions as well as establishing new branches for the company. Prior to joining Rotech, Freedman was vice president of acquisitions for Apria Healthcare and previously worked for Lincare as part of its acquisition group.
Bill Elliott has been named CEO of Lubbock, Texas-based member services organization The MED Group. Elliott succeeds David A. Miller, who remains active with the company as chairman of the board. As head of Irving, Texas-based VHA's Group Purchasing Organization, Elliott led the introduction of several key strategies that, among other things, broadened the product portfolio. Elliott also served as president of distributor Bergen Brunswig Medical. The MED Group has approximately 195 members that operate 700 locations throughout the United States.
Daniel J. Kohl has been appointed president and CEO of Pediatric Services of America, Inc. (PSAI). He replaces company founder Joseph D. Sansone, who retired in August. Kohl has spent 30 years in health care and has served as the president and CEO of both home health service provider Housecall Medical Resources and hearing aid distributor Sonus Corp. He also has spent time in senior management positions within PSAI.
In March, Tom Mills is expected to leave his role as COO of Brentwood, Tenn.-based American HomePatient. The company has not yet announced a replacement. The company also announced that it has hired Frank Powers, previously an executive officer of Matria Healthcare, as its executive vice president.
Woburn, Mass.-based PolyMedica Corp., parent of diabetic supply company Liberty Medical Supply, announced that John K.P. “Nick” Stone, general counsel and senior vice president, has retired from the company. Senior Vice President and Chief of Healthcare Affairs Bill Eck succeeds Stone as general counsel.
Mark Haynes has been named national sales director for Suffern, N.Y.-based Blue Chip Medical Products, a manufacturer of therapeutic support surfaces. He also will oversee sales activity within Blue Chip's sister company, Crown Medical Products, which manufactures a variety of wheelchair cushions, wedges and other positioning products.
Tom Pennington has been named operations manager of the Earth City, Mo., branch of United Seating & Mobility. Before joining the company, Pennington worked in the uniform industry, including a 15-year stint at Cintas, where he served in various roles including service manager, plant manager and operations manager.
