At the National Conference of State Legislatures' summer meeting, Maryland Health Department Secretary Nelson Sabatini told state legislators that unless some reforms are made, paying for Medicaid — with costs expected to reach $600 billion over the next decade — will leave little money for other state objectives, BNA reported.
Sabatini said that bringing payments for dual eligibles, or individuals covered by both Medicare and Medicaid, together under a joint capitated program could relieve some problems facing the federal-state program.
