Critical Home Care Expands DME Presence

Southfield, Mich.

Critical Home Care acquired two DME companies last month: American Oxygen & Medical, with locations in Peoria and Jacksonville, Ill., and Trinity Healthcare, with locations in Winston-Salem and Huntersville, N.C., and Marietta and Demorest, Ga. The company has been on the acquisition trail for several months. On July 30, the company announced purchase of assets from The Staffing Source of St. Petersburg, Fla., and on Sept. 1, the assets of Merit Staffing Resources in Peabody, Mass. Critical Home Care provides home care staffing, DME, respiratory therapy services and mail-order pharmaceuticals.

Rotech Joins e-CMN Push

Orlando, Fla.

Another national provider has joined the e-CMN push. Orlando, Fla.-based Rotech Healthcare has signed a 60-month contract to use an electronic certificate of medical necessity platform from Trac Medical, Schenectady, N.Y. Rotech signed on for the company's CareCert Enterprise Solution (ES) platform through TracMed's reseller agreement with bConnected Software of Louisville, Colo. Rotech processes several million CMNs and written orders annually and has approximately 500 locations throughout the United States.

First Choice Sells Skilled Nursing Division, Retains HME

Augusta, Ga.

First Choice Medical has sold its home care services operations to Louisville, Ky.-based ResCare. The division will become part of Southern Home Care Services, a ResCare subsidiary that provides in-home services in Georgia and South Carolina. The transaction is expected to generate approximately $4.6 million in annual revenue for ResCare. Meanwhile, First Choice is retaining its respiratory, HME and home infusion services divisions.
