Harvard sleep professor David P. White has been named chief medical officer of Respironics. He will be responsible for leading the company's clinical research strategies and programs in the sleep and respiratory markets.

White, who is a widely published researcher and frequent lecturer on sleep disorders, currently serves as director of the clinical sleep disorders program at Brigham and Women's Hospital and as professor of sleep medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston.

He is editor-in chief of the journal Sleep, and also has served as past president of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and chair of the Advisory Board of the National Center on Sleep Disorders Research. In addition, White chairs the Test Writing Committee for the first American Board of Medical Specialties Board Exam in Sleep Medicine.
