Rose Schafhauser, an HME industry veteran, has received the 2025 award

ARLINGTON, Virginia—The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) announced that Rose Schafhauser has been named the 2025 Van Miller Homecare Champion. The company said the award aims to celebrate individuals who have demonstrated the visionary spirit that has helped shape and strengthen the homecare industry.

“I am truly humbled to be recognized as the 2025 Van Miller Homecare Champion and to share this award with the incredible past winners and nominees,” Schafhauser said. “Having spent my entire forty-year career in the HME industry, I have been blessed to have learned from and work with the very best our industry has to offer. They have all contributed to driving my passion for serving the people I am so lucky to work with every day. (…) I am honored to receive this award, and I would challenge every member of our HME community from the newest biller to the long-term owner to get involved. Together we can win!”

Schafhauser began working in the home medical equipment (HME) industry as a supplier, where she built a working knowledge of Medicare as a Medicare claims processor. After her time in the HME industry, Schafhauser founded Association Management LLC, where she became the executive director of Midwest Association for Medical Equipment Services and Southwest Medical Equipment Suppliers Association. In this role, she works with volunteers across 11 states to guide advocacy, payer relations and regulatory initiatives.

“For over four decades, Rose has served the HME community with unwavering dedication, passion and leadership,” said Tom Ryan, president and CEO of AAHomecare. “This recognition honors her incredible contributions to the HME industry, as well as her steadfast commitment to priority policy initiatives at both the federal and state levels. Rose's service has been defined by tireless advocacy and a collaborative spirit. Through her involvement with several boards and committees—including the Jurisdiction A, B and C Councils, the NSCAC, AAHomecare’s Executive Committee and as past chair of the State Leaders Council—Rose has been a driving force in advancing our industry. (…) Rose has always shown unwavering commitment and dedication to the industry—all hallmarks of this award.”

AAHomecare plans to recognize Schafhauser’s achievement during the AAHomecare Update at Medtrade 2025, which will take place Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 2:15 pm EST in Ballroom D3/4. Following the presentation, members of AAHomecare’s councils will lead discussions on new challenges and opportunities impacting the HME community, including technology, a new administration and more.
