Arlington, Virginia—The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) has launched a new video campaign highlighting the profound impact of home medical equipment (HME) through the story of Brandon, a young professional and quadriplegic whose journey is a testament to the freedom, independence and purpose that HME makes possible.

AAHomecare created two targeted video resources to help HME stakeholders showcase the Industry’s value available at aahomecare.org/Value-of-HME-Advocacy-Tools:

  • 4.5-Minute Mini-Documentary: A compelling story for communities, customers (end users/caregivers), and the public, designed for social media and outreach to illustrate how HME transforms lives.
  • Short Advocacy Video: A concise, policy-driven message for payer and legislator meetings, reinforcing why HME access must be protected.

To maximize HME stakeholders’ impact, AAHomecare also developed the "Value of Homecare Toolkit," which is available on its website and includes:

  • Video links and distribution guidance
  • Social media content for easy sharing
  • Value of HME talking points and industry data to strengthen messaging
  • Email templates for outreach to legislators/payers, end user customers, and HME staff

“Our industry is more than equipment; we improve independence, provide dignity, and maximize health outcomes where people prefer to live—home,” said Tom Ryan, president & CEO of AAHomecare. “These videos are a testament to the incredible role our industry plays in the health care continuum and why policies must support continued access to care.”

Additionally, a public-facing web page provides resources for people who use HME and their family caregivers to learn more about home-based care and engage in efforts to protect access. Visit aahomecare.org for more
