LOS ANGELES (June 8, 2021)—The Abilities Expo, one of the disability community’s most cherished events, will return this year with seven action-packed, live and in-person, consumer-oriented events in Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Toronto, New York, Los Angeles and Dallas.
All the Expos strive to provide a safe and non-threatening environment while adhering to the safety procedures dictated by the CDC, state, city and venues in which the Expos take place. The safety of their attendees, exhibitors, staff and contractors is top priority in making everyone feel comfortable as they explore the many opportunities to find products, information, network with peers and have fun doing it.
Delivering a wide range of game-changing products, services and technologies all under one roof, the Abilities Expos welcome a multitude of consumers with disabilities at each regional weekend event. The first Abilities Expo of the year will kick off at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Chicago on June 25-27, 2021.
“Each regional Abilities Expo provides exhibitors the unique opportunity to interact with existing clients and prospective clients in a ‘hands-on; face-to-face’ environment that celebrates the disability community. Post-pandemic, there is a definitive value to ‘experiencing’ these valuable products and services in ways that digital options cannot hope to achieve. Our community is actively seeking ways to reconnect in a supportive environment after a year of limited social contact,” Abilities Expo CEO David Korse said.
Interactive Events, Informative Workshops & Innovative Products
Regardless of the type and level of disability, the Abilities Expo strives to provide resources that people with disabilities need to thrive. Free to attend, their info-packed workshops explore vital areas of lifestyle support like employment guidance, financial planning, making home more accessible, traveling with a disability, how therapeutic activities or medical cannabis can help various conditions and more. Abilities Expo attendees are encouraged to explore inclusive activities like adaptive sports, dance, assistance animals and so much more for kids of all ages! With each interactive event or workshop, participants can learn how to engage year-round.
“We offer something for everyone in our content schedules—from workshops on travel or cannabis to events encouraging everyone to dance, play sports or stretch out those tired muscles. Our schedule for each show is packed with new information and things to try,” said Christine Selinger, director of education and events. “Though most schedules are filled a year in advance, I’m always looking for new contributions to the workshop and events schedules by partnering with our exhibitors and community advocates,” she added.
Join Us at the Expo to Strengthen Your Community Connections
“Our visitors have repeatedly told us that they mark the dates for their Abilities Expo each year and that they look forward to being in a setting where members of the disability community are in the majority and where they can learn, network and shop the products, services and resources they need to help them lead more independent lives,” Korse said.
Health care providers and suppliers who would like to connect in meaningful ways with their local disability community are invited to contact Abilities Expo show staff for exhibitor information and additional opportunities to get involved.
“We thoroughly enjoy consulting with healthcare providers to help create a customer journey at the Expo that spotlights their range of products and service,” Korse adds. “We’re also proud to offer continuing education on a variety of topics for healthcare professionals, thanks to the educational support provided by our manufacturer exhibitors.”
