The service expansion adds hospice care and grief support to a wide range of offerings

MICHIGAN—Aspirus At Home has expanded services in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (U.P.) to give residents of Iron County and the surrounding area greater local access to hospice care.

The service expansion adds hospice care and grief support to the wide range of offerings already provided by Aspirus At Home in the U.P. to meet the needs of patients wherever they are in their health care journey.

“Expanding our hospice and palliative care programs to Iron County is part of our commitment to providing high-quality care and a vital service to our rural communities,” said Tom Kaster, interim vice president of post-acute care for Aspirus Health. “Aspirus At Home has one of the best programs serving Michigan and Wisconsin.”

Aspirus At Home now offers home care and hospice across the Upper Peninsula in and around the following areas:

  • Baraga
  • Hancock
  • Houghton
  • Ironwood
  • Keweenaw
  • Laurium
  • Ontonagon
  • Gogebic

Future plans for Aspirus At Home include the addition of homecare and hospice services in parts of Dickinson and Marquette County.

“Our goal is to always keep patients comfortable, educate families and caregivers, and provide the highest levels of compassionate care,” Kaster said. "We will meet people wherever they are in their health care journey and help them to feel most comfortable wherever they call home.”

Rae Kaare, chief administrative officer for Aspirus Iron River Hospital & Clinics said, “It’s an amazing feeling to be able to offer hospice services in the community once again. This service greatly improves the quality of life, not only for patients but also their families.”

Aspirus at Home features a full offering of in-home services, including home health and hospice care and bereavement care. For more information or to see what services are available, visit aspirus.org.
