WASHINGTON—The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has added 10 HCPCS codes to the list of those that require face-to-face encounter and a written order, bringing the total up to 63 codes, according to VGM Government Relations.
The new codes, all for back, knee and ankle or foot braces, are:

- L1932
- L1940
- L1951
- L1960
- L1970
- L2005
- L2036
When a code makes the Required F2F/WOPD List, VGM wrote, a patient must have a face-to-face encounter with their treating practitioner documenting the medical necessity for the item being prescribed. The medical necessity must meet the coverage criteria outlined within the respective medical policy/local coverage determination (LCD).
In addition, the written order is required before delivery and must be completed within six months after the required F2F encounter. The Standard Documentation Requirements Policy includes these details.
