A new platform developed by the Home Centered Care Institute (HCCI) merges and analyzes data to help health care organizations answer key questions about the rapidly expanding market of home-based medical care.
The newly launched Confer Analytics platform was developed by the experts at HCCI and tested by leading homecare providers. It offers the market intelligence that medical directors and other leaders in home-centered care need to answer essential business questions about patient demographics, capacity for growth, quality benchmarks, referral sources and more.
The Confer Analytics platform integrates multiple data sources and tens of millions of claims in Medicare, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid, to create a unique, intuitive and interactive business intelligence tool.
Medical directors and other leaders in home-centered care can use the more than 35 standardized dashboards in the platform to answer a wide variety of business questions, from how many people in a specific market need and are receiving home-based primary care services or “house calls,” to which providers and practices are doing house calls, the quality of care a practice provides and how practices compare to each other and to national benchmarks.
“Confer Analytics was launched just in the nick of time. For the first time in our 28-year history, we are expanding our home-based primary care services into new markets,” said Rebecca Ramsay, MPH, BSN, CEO of Housecall Providers. “We needed a market intelligence platform built specifically for a home-based medical practice like ours that provides home-based primary care, palliative care and hospice. Confer Analytics allows us to study our competition in these new markets and understand the referral patterns in the region so that we can strategically build new partnerships.”
Using comparable data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for specific regions and markets could take a year or more to set up, and cost tens of thousands or even several hundred thousand dollars, noted Melissa Singleton, chief learning officer of HCCI, who oversees research and data analytics for the organization.
“We designed the Confer Analytics platform to be an affordable and time-saving tool for a wide variety of home-based care practices,” said Julie Sacks, president and chief operating officer of HCCI. “Our goal is to help organizations achieve growth and quality across the full continuum of emerging home-based care options, including home-based primary care, home-based hospice and palliative care, home health, connected care and hospital at home services."
