MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., April 26, 2013—Ottobock announces the launch of its new orthotics-based custom seating system, the OBSS Ortho-Shape. Along with the newly named OBSS Tru-Shape (formerly OBSS), it forms a family of Ottobock seating products which are produced through an intense client focus, intuitive technology base, and exceptional service and support.

Combining orthotic and seating elements, the OBSS Ortho-Shape is a unique product to custom seating for those with moderate to complex positioning needs. The system intuitively incorporates concepts of body alignment, pressure distribution, well-appointed directional forces and postural control.

“One of the great benefits and features of the new Ortho-Shape is how its design easily allows for adjustments as a child grows, for example, or for weight loss or weight gain, or even to accommodate bulky clothing," said Matt Swiggum, vice president of mobility solutions for Ottobock. “Up to four layering adjustments can be made, and we're excited to offer that type of valuable option to help meet the needs and improve the outcomes for clients who value their freedom of movement.”

Both the OBSS Tru-Shape and OBSS Ortho-Shape use a digitized file for production, have a trial fit option and a final fit, and both fit on nearly any wheelbase including Ottobock’s discovery tmax with tilt-in-space adjustment.
