WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 12, 2020)—The nation's private duty homecare nursing and personal care services community fulfills a unique and essential purpose in modern life. Private duty homecare provides critical, quality, home-based care and living support services for individuals young and old, helping them live full, independent, and connected lives in the comfort of wherever they call home.
The Private Duty Home Care Association (PDHCA) was originally founded in 2005 as an affiliate organization by the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) to provide resources and support to private duty homecare owners, operators and leaders. Over the last year, NAHC and PDHCA have done a comprehensive review of current member offerings and identified a number of opportunity areas for improvement based on member feedback and insight—all in an effort to better support the private duty homecare community as the demand for private duty homecare services continues to grow.
Recognizing the increasingly, interconnected nature of private duty homecare with other segments of home health care, hospice and the larger health care continuum; PDHCA, with support and guidance from the Advisory Board, has made the decision, effective immediately, to transition PDHCA to become Private Duty Homecare at NAHC—a fully incorporated service line of the National Association for Home Care &Hospice.
In review of operational infrastructure and with feedback from recent member surveys, PDHCA acknowledged the need to partner and align more closely with NAHC in order to leverage their strength in advocacy, expertise, influence, and resources, to exponentially increase delivery of services and value that would ultimately empower you to meet your evolving needs and consistently deliver the highest quality of private duty nursing and personal care services through leadership, advocacy, education and innovation.
Over the last several months, PDHCA have already worked with the assistance of NAHC to increase content, education, and our advocacy efforts to ensure private duty homecare members receive more benefits than ever before.
