TIMRÅ, Sweden (October 19, 2021)—Catharina Tunberg has been appointed Executive Vice President Research & Development for Permobil Group. Her mission will be to drive the next generation of advanced assistive solutions for individuals; coupling design, engineering, digitalization and clinical evidence.
Tunberg will build on Permobil´s holistic approach to solutions for people living with disabilities. This encompasses hardware, software and services within power wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs, seating solutions and power assist devices. She will head up the global group research and development function spearheading innovation, product development and cost position.

Catharina’s broad knowledge of cloud-based solutions, hardware technology, product development and product quality fits perfectly into that and will take us to the next phase on our journey,” said Bengt Thorsson, Permobil CEO.

Tunberg joins Permobil following a long career from ASSA ABLOY and Ericsson, where she has held various senior management positions within R&D, sales, marketing, business and strategy development. Most recently she was the chief technology officer for the Global Solutions Division at ASSA ABLOY.
Tunberg is an elected member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) since 2009. She has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), in Stockholm. She will be based in the Kista (Stockholm) office and starts in the first quarter of 2022.
Permobil wishes Catharina Modahl-Nilsson, current EVP Research & Development, well in her new position outside Permobil. Her improvement of the R&D structure and systems within Permobil and implementing processes to ensure MDR Regulation compliance will serve the company well for the coming years.
