Samuelson Furniture’s first-ever senior living collection, Living by Samuelson, is a unique furniture line handcrafted with upscale design elements that are aimed to enhance the lifestyle experiences of those in retirement communities. The products in the collection are the result of years of extensive ergonomic research, with each detail thoroughly tested and engineered to meet the needs of senior citizens. Samuelson worked in consultation with the esteemed firm Harken Interiors in Chicago culminating in a unique and forward-thinking product for senior communities. The collection’s design features include:
- Chair heights and depths that have been engineered for ease of entry and exit.
- Mindful furniture shapes that not only provide comfort, but are structured in a way that one’s body won’t fall too deeply into a chair.
- Chair arms that have been built to handle heavy use, allowing full body weight to be supported as they are used for leverage in and out of the seat.
- A patent-pending hardware system called CATCH by Samuelson that suspends a folded walker on the back of the collection’s chairs. It eliminates “walker-traffic” that typically clutters dining rooms, public areas, and hallways in senior living properties.
- A discreet TILT system that allows the seats of many chairs to tilt forward, exposing a drop-through frame that allows the chair to be easily cleaned.
Five of the collection’s seating pieces offer the option to include the brand’s built-in Sound by Samuelson Bluetooth technology, which allows users to be immersed in the comforts of sound at the palm of their hands. Users can privately enjoy their favorite song, audio book, TV show or game system without disrupting others beside them. This technology can also be used to facilitate music therapy in senior living facilities.
