(September 24, 2021)—Shomer Insurance Services, an Alera Group company, has helped develop a general and professional liability (GLPL) insurance option for senior care facilities—including skilled nursing, assisted living, hospice and home health—that is accessible, customizable and available now to offer solutions at affordable premiums.
Informed by insights and expertise from owners, operators and industry experts, the program provides quality insurance based on longstanding experience supporting the healthcare and senior care industry. The policy is Demotech rated “A” and reinsured by Lloyd’s of London. The risk management consulting is provided by Omnisure, and Premier Claims Management, LLC is the claim administrator
“Many of today’s senior care and assisted living facilities find themselves facing an insurance Catch-22: they can neither afford professional liability insurance nor afford to be without it,” said Ari Baer, managing partner of Shomer Insurance Services. “We saw a huge need for a plan that is available to a wide variety of providers and offers comprehensive coverage, without being cost-prohibitive.”
The GLPL program directly addresses operators’ biggest barriers, including: a shrinking pool of liability insurance providers, coverage limitations or no access to coverage, increase in predatory claims and/or claim severity and frequency, regulatory requirements and a higher-risk resident care environment.
