PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. (Feb. 5, 2014)—A new app from SIGVARIS goes beneath the skin’s surface to help explain the circulatory system and leg health conditions to patients in an illustrative way that is easy to understand.
Traveling deep into the circulatory system, the free SIGVARIS app highlights how the circulatory system works. It features interactive animations that display various medical conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (blood clots), spider veins, varicose veins, edema (swelling) and leg ulcers, making it easier for physicians to talk with their patients. The app also highlights how graduated compression stockings can aid in improving overall circulation by providing a close-up look at how these garments work from the inside out.
The SIGVARIS app is already at work at vascular clinics and in medical offices around the world. “When you can show patients how a blood clot forms or the exact veins that have been affected by venous insufficiency, it gives them a much clearer understanding about what is happening within their body. The app also shows patients what happens inside their legs as they wear graduated compression stockings,” says Dr. Ariel Soffer.
“This has increased compliance in patients who need to be wearing graduated compression every day,” Soffer adds. Dr. Soffer also plans to detail this aid to physicians who attend the Vein Experts Training Academy in South Florida.
The new app is offered in four languages: English, Portuguese, German and French, and it is available in the Apple iPad app store free of charge. Click here to download the app. For more information about leg health or graduated compression, visit sigvarisusa.com.
