WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 12, 2018)—Language exempting complex rehab manual wheelchairs from the competitive bidding program and mandating an 18-month delay for the application of bidding-derived pricing for complex rehab wheelchair accessories has been included in HR 7217, the ‘‘Improving Medicaid Programs and Opportunities for Eligible Beneficiaries Act’’ or the IMPROVE Act. 

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (November 23, 2018)—Reliable Medical Supply (RMS), a health care durable medical equipment (DME) company providing complex rehab therapy (CRT), clinical respiratory services and an array of additional therapies treating a variety of disease states, announced the recapitalization of their equity by Seven Hills Capital of Chicago. No financial terms were disclosed. The transaction was facilitated by VERTESS, a health care M+A advisory firm.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (November 21, 2018)—Numotion, a provider of complex rehab technology (CRT), has expanded its footprint in Tennessee with the acquisition of Carr Rehab, Inc. Carr Rehab has been serving customers in East Tennessee for more than 27 years, with locations in Knoxville and Johnson City.


DURYEA, Penn. (November 19, 2018)—Quantum Rehab has launched Interactive Assist, a new app that provides a direct real-time connection from a powerchair’s electronics to a provider’s programming station.

The connection provides the technician with full system and diagnostic information along with tools, such as a real-time mirror image of the powerchair’s electronics display, to eliminate wasteful service trips.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (November 13, 2018)—Numotion announced its acquisition by an affiliate of AEA Investors LP. AEA acquired controlling interest in Numotion from LLR Partners and Audax Group. LLR Partners has reinvested in Numotion as a minority shareholder. The private equity firms are partnering with Numotion’s existing management team to help fund the company’s continuing growth initiatives. Harris Williams & Co. served as financial advisor to Numotion.

Total has been in business for more than 12 years, serving thousands of customers across the Midwest as one of the largest regional CRT providers.

The bill would protect manual accessories from bidding-derived pricing and has strong bipartisan support.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 12, 2017)—Representatives Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) and John Larson (D-Conn) introduced legislation on Monday to exempt accessories for manual CRT wheelchairs from bidding-derived pricing with a strong, bipartisan roster of 42 original co-sponsors (23 Democrats, 19 Republicans). HR 3730 would complement earlier CMS action exempting accessories for group 3 power wheelchairs from bidding-derived pricing.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (August 7, 2017)—Numotion, a provider of complex rehab technology (CRT), has acquired the rehab division of CVC Home Medical in Wilmington, N.C., extending its reach and capacity in eastern North Carolina. CVC has been in business for more than 20 years, serving thousands of customers in the Wilmington and Morehead City areas.
